PANEL 1
A city that has been devastated by a great battle. A man lays on the ground, his leg is caught under fallen debris. He is looking up in at the amazement at the figure before him. ARMOUR, sheild power fully on is blocking an intense blast of energy that colours the entire scene red. A look of pain is on her face, her mouth open as if shouting.

CAPTION 1 (Top Left of Panel, yellow pad paper style, the handwriting of a journalist. This is same for all the captions): I can't hear what she says over the roar of the death that is emitting from that things eyes...

CAPTION 2: I am not even sure that what she is saying is English...

PANEL 2

Close in ARMOUR's face. Her pain looked turned to determination.

CAPTION: But I see something in her face.

PANEL 3

Same shot as PANEL 2 but she has a slight smile on her face.

CAPTION 1: A smirk.

CAPTION 2: A confidence.

CAPTION 3: A reassurance.

PANEL 4

Back to the man on the floor. His face looking straight at us. Despite his circumstances he is smiling.

CAPTION 1: She has this.

CAPTION 2: We're safe.

ALWAYS WATCHING

This was a one page strip me and artist Fred O'Rourke (Find him on twitter @Fred_ORourke and check out his website here http://freddoescomics.blogspot.com) did for OFFLIFE Magazine http://www.offlife.co.uk/

We unfortunately didn't get selected but it was a fun little piece. I love the detail and style Fred uses for his characters.

Enjoy!

PANEL 1

Coming in from an open window we see CHRIS D'AMICO aka RED MIST sitting down, his back to us as he reads from the computer screen in front of him.

RED MIST: A world full of superheroes, eh?

PANEL 2

He turns around to face us, showing his revamped RED MIST costume, his face is uncovered.

CHRIS D'AMICO: As a great man once said...

PANEL 3

He puts on a new more scarier mask.

CHRIS D'AMICO: As a great man once said... wait 'til they get a load of me.

PANEL 4

We pull back into the room and to the right CHRIS D'AMICO is flying of his chair, closely followed by his computer. Blood and circuitry all around him, his face in shock from the force of the shotgun blast. To the left stands FRANK DARBO aka THE CRIMSON BOLT, full costume, gun in hand, yelling at the top of his voice...

FRANK DARBO: Shut Up Crime!

PANEL 1

Inside a forest where winter snow has fallen, smoke is rising from an unseen disaster behind the thicket of trees. Flames have sprung around the foliage and scraps of metal can be seen on the floor. Emerging from the smoke is RUDOLPH, limping with one eye closed, scars across his body.

CAPTION 1- Over Germany the attack causes an old man and his sleigh to crash into the woods below...

PANEL 2

Further out from the forest and into a clear field blanketed with snow, RUDOLPH is swaying as if about to fall.

CAPTION 1- Only one walks away...

CAPTION 2- But even a legend that once burned so bright...

PANEL 3

Bird’s eye view on RUDOLPH now lying in the snow, dead. The panel is pure white except for the hoof prints RUDOLPH caused and a trickle of blood that accompanies them.

CAPTION 1- Now no longer glows...

PANEL 1

Inside an ape’s bedroom. All that can be seen is the end of a bed, with human feet on top of it, ankles roped to the bed posts. The feet aren’t struggling. In the background we can see an archway where THE APE, nothing on but a primitive towel around his waist downwards, is standing in front of a mirror (NOTE: No reflection can be seen). In his left hand is a bloody razor held up.

THE APE- Now was that so bad?

PANEL 2

Zooming into the image in PANEL 1, with more of a focus on the archway leading to THE APE. The razor has been put down to the side. The reflection in the mirror still can’t be seen.

THE APE- There was no reason to be afraid. After all...

PANEL 3

Viewpoint from the mirror. We are looking directly at THE APE’s face as he stares outwards at the reader. He grins widely, as he wears a human face that has been freshly cut off. Smudges of red can be seen underneath the mask and wet blood seeps from the edges

THE APE -... I just want to be like you.

PANEL 1

Outside, in a rocky quarry, a TEAM ROCKET MEMBER is shouting instructions to his GOLBAT, which is head butting a CHARMANDER, that is clearly bruised, the impact knocking it out towards the reader.

TEAM ROCKET MEMBER – FINISH HIM!

PANEL 2

The CHARMANDER lays curled up on the floor. Its eyes closed and the flame on its tail dying out. The shadow of the TEAM ROCKET MEMBER looms over it.

TEAM ROCKET MEMBER- Tut. And I thought these things were meant to be tough

PANEL 3

The TEAM ROCKET MEMBER, hands on hips and looking proud, has one foot raised on a rock that is on the floor. Unknown to him the rock has an eye that is open and looking up at him.

TEAM ROCKET MEMBER- I wonder what would happen if my GOLBAT just kept sucking the life out of you. Would it become stronger?

PANEL 4

The TEAM ROCKET MEMBER is flung backwards as the rock shoots up, revealing itself to be a GEODUDE. Two more have risen from the rocky floor and are ready to attack the TEAM ROCKET MEMBER. Another GEODUDE has already pinned down the GOLBAT, and another one is in front of the unconscious CHARMANDER, waiting to defend.

TEAM ROCKET MEMBER- Wha-!?

GEODUDE #1 – DUDE!

GEODUDE #2 – DUDE!

GEODUDE #3 – DUDE!

GEODUDE #4 – DUDE!

GEODUDE #5 – DUDE!

CENTRAL CITY Skyline at Night. The City is lit up despite the lateness, it all looks busy.

CAPTION 1- My name is Wally West...

CAPTION 2- I USED to be the fastest man alive...

PANEL 2
Same shot as before but the view is now from a window.

CAPTION- Now I am the slowest...

PANEL 3
Further back into the room, window in the background. It's a hospital room and we can see WALLY WEST laying in a bed, hooked up to a series of life preserving machines. A figure can be seen silhouetted next to the window.

CAPTION- It takes me an hour just to blink...

PANEL 4
Close up on WALLY'S face, frozen with a blank face. Mask over his face.

CAPTION 1- Please... Somebody...

CAPTION 2- Help me...
